The Giving Bank partners with Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development this Hari Raya to spread festive cheer to underprivileged children.
Kuala Lumpur, 6th July 2017 – The end of Ramadhan marks the start of Hari Raya Aidifiltri, a delightful celebration that brings together Malaysians from all walks of life. The Giving Bank together with Berjaya Times Square Hotel and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development invited children from 4 different homes for a belated Raya Celebration at the hotel after a month of fasting.

The guest of honour for the day was YB Dato Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development. Also present at the event was Dr Janson Ang, Founder of The Giving Bank, Dato Hajjah Zurainah Binti Musa, the Executive Director of Berjaya Corporation Berhad and Mr Hanley Chew, Chief Executive Officer of Berjaya Hotels & Resorts who took time off from their busy schedules to attend the Raya Celebration to lend their support towards this memorable event.
Dr Janson Ang Chee Wee, Founder of The Giving Bank and Mr Mondi Mecja, the Area General Manager of Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur together with the hotel associates welcomed the children at the hotel lobby at 5.30pm. The event started off with a heart-warming speech by Dr Janson followed by a remarkable magic performance by Dr. Mahdi Moudini. There was also a special appearance by Ms Angeline Loo, celebrity singer and TV host. The final performance for the night was by singer & song composer, Mr Fauzi Hamzi.
After the rousing performance, the children were then treated to a sumptuous buffet spread composing of traditional Hari Raya delicacies such as Sup Kambing Mamak, Lontong, Satay and Ulam-Ulam Melayu, all deliciously prepared by award-winning Chef Yusoff bin Abdul Hamid; Sous Chef- Malay Cuisine and his team. “The Giving Bank has also invited NGO Pekim (Pertubuhan Kebajikan Pesakit Ichthyosis Malaysia) to this celebration because of the great work that the organization has been doing all these year.
The Giving Bank will present one year’s worth of medical supplies to the NGO to assist Ichthyosis patients fight through their skin irritations. These medical supplies are given to NGO Pekim, so they can make the necessary arrangements on the distributions to (25) patients in Kedah, Pahang and Kelantan who urgently needs these supplies”, said Dr Janson Ang.
The final activity of the day was the presentation of gifts. All 4 homes were presented with grocery items and daily care essentials such as rice, floor detergents, washing detergents and cooking oils. In addition, the children were also given new sets of clothing which were all generously sponsored by kind benefactors.
“At Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, we believe in spreading love and reaching out and supporting the less fortunate especially during festive seasons. This was our first time partnering with The Giving Bank and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development and we hope we can create many more wonderful and memorable events such as this”, said Mondi Mecja.
